Alleged commercial Murray fish netting operation busted

FISHERIES officers claim to have busted a commercial fishing operation near Shepparton using fish netting. A Goulburn Valley man was allegedly found with commercial fish netting gear and 11 Murray cod in his cool room, only five cod are allowed to be kept under Victorian law. A member of the public raised the alarm by calling the 13 FISH fishing hotline.

Seal found tangled in netting released back into sea

A grey seal found tangled up in netting on a beach has been returned to the sea by rescuers. The distressed seal was discovered with netting around its neck at Cruden Bay in Aberdeenshire on Tuesday. The Scottish SPCA was alerted and officers took him to a rescue centre where the animal was cut free.

Ryan Arnold, Pyap Produce, Loxton, South Australia is aiming to uphold a valuable Asian export market by lifting his output of premium quality fruit. As far as he is aware, the farm has become the only netted citrus orchard in the Riverland region. This will be their first season of fruit from under the nets and earlier indicators are showing several benefits.
